Thomas Nivens Obituary

Lubbock- After nearly 74 years together, two hearts left this earthly life to be together and join their creator in Heaven.

Thomas Aaron Nivens died November 26, 2018 at the age of 97. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Flying for the Ferry Command in the United States Army Air Corps and Air Force, he was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and had a fierce love for his country. He was a life-time Free Mason and Sojourner who was passionate about his volunteering at the Lubbock State School and Silent Wings Museum. Tom was laid to rest amid his beloved pecan trees at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas on January 10, 2019.

Margaret Louise Nivens died January 25, 2019 at the age of 95. A wife and caregiver, family and friends were the center of her life. Margaret had been active most of her life in United Methodist Women, Tuesday Morning Bible Study and Esther Circle.

Tom and Margaret were both longtime members of the Homebuilders Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church. Tom and Margaret were preceded in death by their only son, Thomas Aaron Jr and are survived by their two daughters, Karen Sue Holick and Elizabeth Ann Elliott. They are also survived by 2 grandchildren, John Elliott and Diana Dunnavant, and 1 great-granddaughter, Clara Ruth.

The funeral for Margaret will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the chapel at First United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
