Tommy Sewell Obituary

Tommy Charles Sewell Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Tommy Charles Sewell this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Monterey Baptist Church with burial following in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Tommy was born on May 16, 1937, to Essie Mae and George C. Sewell in Abilene and moved to Lubbock in his teens. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955. He married Janis Jobe on June 21, 1956, in Lubbock, and they celebrated their 55th anniversary in June. He owned Circle S Grocery in Shallowater, and Circle S, Service Food and Sewell's Country Store in Lubbock until his retirement in 2000. Tommy was a member of Monterey Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George. Survivors include his wife, Janis; two sons, Randy Sewell and wife Reta of Idalou, and David Sewell and wife Cindy of Shallowater; a daughter, Pam Danner and husband Derek of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Apryl Benningfield and husband Morgan, Tara Cruz and husband Ryan, Trynton Sewell, Jillian Danner, and Jobe Danner; a great-granddaughter, Camry Cruz; and nephew, Greg Sewell and wife Monica.
