Wilma Alexander Obituary

Wilma Alexander LUBBOCK-Wilma Alexander, 97, of Lubbock, formerly of Littlefield, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, in Lubbock. She was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Royston, Texas, to William and Jessie Parker. Wilma moved to Littlefield with her family at the young age of four. She attended Littlefield Schools, and graduated with the class of 1938. Wilma married Jack Alexander on Nov. 12, 1938, at the First Baptist Parsonage in Littlefield. From an early age Wilma was active in the First Baptist Church. She was baptized there, and was involved in numerous women's and children's activities over the years. She was also involved in many other organizations like PTA, Band Boosters, and Littlefield Jaycee-ettes. Wilma worked in retail sales at J.C. Penny for many years before retiring in 1980. She then worked at K. Wolen's and Perry's and finally retired for good in 1996, at the age of 77. She was a hard worker, and mowed and kept her own yard well into her 80's. Wilma was always very active and a go'er but enjoyed downtime visiting with her friends and neighbors. Her joy was her family, and spending time with them was what she loved the most. Wilma is survived by her son, Gene Alexander and wife, Linda, of Lubbock; daughter, Patricia Conway of Lubbock; a granddaughter, Jennifer Alexander of Dallas and grandson, Cory Alexander and wife, O'Mara of Lubbock; two great-grandchildren, Ireland and Brinley Alexander; and her canine companions, Alice and Jett. Waiting for her in Heaven are her husband, Jack, who passed away in 1965; grandson, Kirk Conway who passed away on Dec. 23, 2016; three brothers, Thomas Parker, William Parker and AB Parker; three sisters, Mae Wyatt, Juanita Moore, and Veta Evans; and her parents. Services to celebrate Wilma's life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at Grace Chapel in Littlefield with Pastor Tanner Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Littlefield. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

Dear Pat, I'm sorry for your loss of your mom I know how much she meant to you. She was always so good to keep the boys while we went out. She was such a sweet and kind person.
