I just found out about Bob, my condolences go out to his family. Bob was a very unique individual. I first met him in the 70's when I was helping with his new casino. He had converted the Chrysler showroom into the Million Dollar Museum. One day he told me he was going to build a hotel there. Little did I know he would build anything resembling the Stratosphere. He new what he wanted and definitely had a life plan. I will always remember him. What a great achiever he was. God Bless.

I am sorry for such a late entry but I wasn't aware of the online guest book. My deepest condolences on your loss. I recall seeing Bob Stupak's advertisements in Parade magazine but never did take advantage of his offer. It was only after I started visiting Las Vegas, and becoming interested in its history, that I learned more about your father. After reading the book No Limit, I became a true admirer. I wish that I could have met your father and congratulated him on his many accomplishments. I always felt that only Bob Stupak could manage a true revitalization of Downtown Las Vegas but alas, that won't come to pass. I hope that the thoughts of his many admirers bring you some measure of comfort in this holiday season. With greatest aloha from Hawaii, Eric Matsuoka

Bob Stupak's name is legendary in Pittsburgh. Local guy makes good. His life is told in the book, "No Limit," by Smith. When I walk by the Lotus Club building on the South Side I automatically think of Bob and his father Chester. Bravo, Bob, for a job well done. We won't forget you. And I'm sure Las Vegas won't either.

I learned a lot from Bob Stupak, and will never forget him. I remember one time that I approached Bob in 1987 to see if he wanted to be a partner in my sports publishing business. He gracefully declined, saying that he was already involved in one..."The Bullet". It's one of the few things he tried in his life that was short-lived, while my publishing business went on for 14 more years. In 1994, I actually went to work for Bob, and he made me President of the Thunderbird Hotel. I was at a meeting with him in his home in El Rancho, the day it caught fire, and helplessly watched as priceless amounts of memorabilia went up in smoke. With a garden hose in my hand, I turned to him and said, "Bob, you DO have insurance, right?" I'll never forget his response..."Nope, Don, always booked it myself..." Shortly thereafter, I moved to Costa Rica, where I still reside. Rest in peace, my visionary friend...rest in peace.

My condolences to the family, when I think of Bob Stupak, I remember the old days of Vegas World and how it looked at night. I liked that better than the Stratosphere.

Bob was a very colorful individual. I remember the Slot Museum he had that burnt down, then went up Vegas World, then the Stratosphere. He was a one and only and Las Vegas will miss him. My prayers are with his family. A neighbor, Joan Tourville

Vegas was built on the dreams of men like Bob Stupak. Most of those men are now gone. Vegas will never be the same, nor have the charm it once had. Times change, but memories last a lifetime. I know where my memories lie, and it won't be at city center.

May you rest in peace Bob. You made big things happen in Las Vegas. May God Bless your family in this time of sorrow. We will always remember you.

Vegas World was the first place I worked when I came to las vegas in 1987. I came to know Bob as the owner and later on a more personal level. The man was a marketing genius and Vegas world was quite the learning experience. RIP to the last of the true "VEGAS WISE GUYS" Summer and Nevada may not remember me but I used to drive them to the movies when they were young.

Bob Stupak was a true visionary and probably the last true pioneer of Las Vegas. He helped build the image and legend of Las Vegas, and he did it by himself. Before the corporate monsters took over the town, he led a simple group of mavericks who helped create the Las Vegas mystique.
