Charles Ruggeroli Obituary
Noted Las Vegas Physician, Charles W. Ruggeroli passes. Charles passed from this earth June 24, 2006. He had fought lung cancer for the past six months and suffered many complications. Charles was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Salt Lake City. He was a life time resident of Las Vegas. He attended Bishop Gorman High School and lettered in three sports all four years. He attended the University of San Francisco in 1960, and received a full scholarship in basketball. While at USF he pursued baseball and secured a scholarship in that sport. After three years at USF he was accepted into Creighton University as a medical student. He spent five years in Omaha, Neb., and was drafted into the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Charles served as a general medical officer at the Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in Missouri. He then moved to Stockton, Calif., to complete his medical residency at San Joaquin General Hospital. His cardiology fellowship was served at Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco. In August of 1974, he and his family made the journey home to Las Vegas, where he entered into private practice. Charles practiced medicine for over 30 years in Las Vegas. He served as a member of the Board of Governors at Valley Hospital for many years. He also served as a cardiologist and a commissioner for the Nevada Athletic Commission. His passing leaves many dear and close friends and many loved patients. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ruggeroli, of 47 years of marriage; and his six children, Dr. Charles E. Ruggeroli (Heather), Dr. Edward Ruggeroli (Renee), Enrico Ruggeroli, Nicholas Ruggeroli (Vickie), Nicole Ruggeroli, Alicia Ruggeroli-Wilson (Steven), and Pam Ruggeroli. He also left 13 grandchildren, Chance, Lauren, Dylan, Maggie, Gianna, Brock, Trey, Bryce, Nicholas (Nico), Alexander, Connor, Kennedy and Trent. He is also survived by one brother, Harry (Cheryl) Ruggeroli of Las Vegas; mother-in-law, June Hobart; sisters-in-law, Roberta (William) Peccole, Virginia (Victor) Santos, Ramona Hobart; brother-in-law, Jerry Hamel; and many cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss him deeply. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, with a prayer service to follow, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nevada Cancer Institute in the name of Dr. Charles W. Ruggeroli, M.D.
