Chester Gilbert Obituary

Chester (Chet) Gilbert, 79, of Moreno Valley, died June 15, 2003. Chester passed on to eternal life Sunday. He left behind Barbara, his wife of 54 years,; seven children, Tye, Guy, Craig, Candace Nelms, Cindy Futrell, Christine Evans, and Carolyn Tiffey; and 17 grandchildren. Chet was a graduate of West Point & spent 20 years as a pilot in the Air Force, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1969 as a Lt. Col. and spent the next 25 years in banking and private business. Chet's many awards and accomplishments during his life are honestly too numerous to mention. It is enough to say that he was a man who did not sit back and let life pass him by. But, he took every opportunity to make a difference with his life in his community, his family, and in the lives of people. To all those he touched, he left behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, integrity and love. He will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 23, at the Riverside National Cemetery amphitheater. Miller Jones of Sun City are handling services.
