Daniel Charest

DANIEL CHAREST Daniel Paul Charest, 49, passed away Feb. 16, 2012 at North Vista Hospital in North Las Vegas, due to illness. Dan was born in Biloxi, Miss. at Keesler Air Force Base Oct. 7, 1962, to Eileen Elizabeth and Gerald Leo Charest. Dan grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo. and then Wyoming before moving to Las Vegas April 1, 1984. Making Las Vegas his permanent home, Dan met his best friend and loving wife, Betty, almost 23 years ago. As a couple, came their greatest accomplishment, their only child Alexander. Dan was so proud of Alex and enjoyed when they did things together. Dan liked reading, cooking, old coins, science and history. He loved the desert, especially the cactus and the desert tortoises. He would always have a house or yard project going on. Dan worked several years in the printing industry as a pressman, and in mailing and distribution. He also worked delivering automotive parts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eileen McGarvin and Gerald Charest. Dan is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Alexander; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Oetzel; his "6 pounds of fury", Zoe, the family dog; and a host of family and friends. Dan will truly be missed. Memorial service will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, at East Vegas Christian Center, 6450 East Stewart Ave., followed by a get together at the family's home.
