I miss you so much. Curtis and I with the help of family and friends did all we could to do your services in true Irish Celebration of Life. I know you loved what Curtis and Adam did for you. I had no doubt you liked the services folder too. It was no mistake the new printer was purchased less than a month prior. I was ready in plans and processes for this sad event of life, but my heart was not ready and never could be. Wait for me.I love you and you are my everything.

Daniel, my dearest friend, you have left such a void in our life with your passing. I will always cherish our time together of 45 years. It`s said that memories will ease the pain of your passing. The pain will be held deep down inside me and only upon the moment when we meet again, shall it disband. Loved dearly by Ron, Chrissy and the entire Marek family.

Dan, I`ve only known you a little less than 3 years - yet you`ve left an indelible impression and void. You truly had a good heart, and your life proved that both tangibly and intangibly. You were sincerely caring and giving - even of yourself. You were an unassuming, gentle soul that I grieve this world`s loss of. I know you are still watching over and right beside us ... still, we all miss seeing your smiling face and the joy and comfort you brought all of us as soulmate/husband, father, family and friend ..... til I see you again Diana

It was a shame that this happened I feel like I was finally getting to know you again, like we used to when I was a child. It is unfortunate that the only time we see eachother is when someone is dying. I guess thats the way life is. I`m happy I got to see you when I did its unfortunate this happened. Only god knows why. May u rest in peace Uncle Daniel and you will be missed.

To Daniel`s Wife and Family, My name is Lisa, and Dan had come into my life while he worked for the VA, helping Veterans receive assistance. I work for a small company, owned by my Aunt Denise, and we help senior veteran`s apply for a special pension program for those that have a medical need. Dan became my contact at the office, and from the first moment I met him, I saw his passion for the work that he he did day in and day out to help better the lives of our nation`s Veterans. He was a very kind man, and he went out of his way to help with our clients. He will be missed, and Denise and I would like to send our deepest condolences to you and your family. Sincerely, Lisa Senior Guidance

Oh, Dan...We have yet to understand why you were taken from all of us so prematurely. We will miss your chuckley laugh, your quick wit. Your gift of storytelling was unmatched. Generosity is a word synonymous with your life, Dan. WHOever needed WHATever, you went out of your way to provide it. We knew that well, and we`ll never forget. It is your quiet, tender spirit that we loved the most. I guess the best way for us to pay tribute to you, dear friend. is to Pay It Forward in the way we live the rest of our days. YOU WILL LIVE ON - in our hearts. PS. Thanks for putting in a good word for the Packers and the Badgers last weekend with the Man upstairs.

Denise/Curt: I`m so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Dan. Both he and Lori were way too young to leave this earth. Dan and I had some great times at the VA and I really missed him when you moved to Henderson. If it wasn`t for him I never would have worked at the VA and had as long of a career as I did (maybe that was a bad thing - ha ha). I know he will be missed by a great many people. Even though it`s been awhile since I`ve seen him, I will miss his smiling face in your yearly Christmas newsletter. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Curt and the rest of the family. Cheryl

Dear Denise and Curt, my heartfelt sympathy and love to you. I still can`t believe Dan has been taken from you at such a young age! I loved Dan like a brother. I have known you guys since 1973 when Dan & I worked together at the VA in Milwaukee. I remember carpooling to work and living downstairs from you in your new duplex. You guys were always so giving of yourselves! I will never forget your help! Take care, you are always in my heart & prayers. Love, Chris.

Dear Dan You are with us for all time, gently placed in each of our lives and in all of our hearts. The loss of your physical presence is so enormous that we are unsure of how to draw strength from it. Still your leaving is not enough to separate you from all of us who love you so, especially Denise. One of the first things I remember you saying to me was "I`m going to marry that girl". Your word and will made it so.The rest is history. It is the greatest Love I have ever known. The last word you planted in my mind, " She needs to know I will always be there with her, means your job is far from finished. She is angry, she is hurt and between you and me, your timing was stinky. Give her the strength to carry on Dan until you are together again. You got your wish, no dimmer switches. My heart hurts, I miss you. Love Laurie

Dan was there for me when I started working at the VA back in 1972 and when I was recovering from my cancer. I`ll always remember his Franklin computer and his (so called) Cadillac of which he was so proud. I`m just sorry that I did not keep in touch with him after he left Milwaukee. I was surprised and shocked at his death at such a young age. It was my pleasure to know and work with Dan.

DAN: You and Denise have always been so good to my mom. It was a great source of comfort knowing you were there if she needed anything. You can`t put a price tag on peace of mind, so the "debt" can never be repaid. But I`ll thank you in person when we meet again in heaven. DENISE: You can see how much the two of you are loved by this outpouring - rest easy knowing that all you need to do is ask and we will be there for you. Thank you for this opportunity to express our gratitude. CURT: Stay strong and follow the example set by your parents. They are simply and truly "good folk". The world needs more people willing to share their lives with others.

Dear Godfather Uncle Daniel, I still cannot believe that you are gone. You have been there with me from the time I was born, video taping me at the hospital. I have many memories on video that I will continue to watch for the rest of my life. Thank you for all the memories that you have given me, and thank you for being part of my life. I miss you very much, but I will be with you soon. Love, Angionette Leigh

Dear Family, Mary and Ken Szalai offer this prayer for Denise and Curtis, who loved and were loved by Dan: May God convince you of His love and His grace, and now, of His presence and caring for you. -------------------- Dan, Denise, and Curtis are special and are unique in a world where most people only look out for themselves. We salute Dan`s care and concern for our Veterans. We saw first hand the care they provided to others, and the gift of hospitality they have. This family has been a wonderful example for others in how to be unselfish in offering help and aid to people in the time of need. Now Denise and Curtis need the love and care of the many friends and relatives they have. We love you and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers, Ken and Mary Szalai

ONE YEAR LATER............ Our lives go on without you But nothing is the same, We have to hide our heartaches When someone speaks your name. Sad are the hearts that love you Silent the tears that fall, Living our hearts without you Is the hardest part of all. You did so many things for us Your heart was kind and true, And when we needed someone We could always count on you. The special years will not return When we were all together, But with the love within our hearts You will walk with us forever. We love and miss you, Dan.

After many days of indecision, hard work and patience, another Splan Sentinel is completed. Marsha did the proof reading and I finished the rest. (Design, Print, fold, staple, stuff envelopes, seal and stamp). It seems less exciting since you`ve left and I wonder if it really matters. I concluded that it is one thing I can carry on doing for you as you loved it every year. It was the hardest this year. You were my #1 in all aspects and Splan Sentinel. Now some other Sentinel fans are gone too. Seeing Donna`s face on each fold (200) made my heart break. I didn`t think it could break anymore after it was totally shattered by your exit, but I was wrong.ILY
