DANIELE GLENNON Obituary

DANIELE GLENNON Daniele Anne-Marie Christine Glennon (nee Calonne) passed away peacefully June 3, 2015, at Heritage Springs in Las Vegas, at the age of 78. Daniele was born Dec. 16, 1936 in Brussels, Belgium, to the late Louis and Anne-Marie Calonne. After World War II, her family moved to Cordoba, Argentina. As a young woman, Daniele trained and worked as an elementary school teacher for several years, being much beloved by her students. After her own children were grown, she served as a translator for several organizations including the Las Vegas Convention Authority. She married Thomas B. P. Glennon, Esq., a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse Co., in 1962. Over many years, the Glennons resided in Montevideo, Uruguay, Lima, Peru, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Santiago, Chile, Tucson, Ariz., and Las Vegas. Over 53 years of marriage, the couple welcomed three children and six grandchildren into their family and Daniele set about teaching them her native language, national culture and customs and Catholic faith. Her children remember her as a kind and loving mother who encouraged them to exercise their talents and pursue their dreams. Daniele was a talented singer and an accomplished master gardener, coaxing horticultural masterpieces, large and small, from the rugged Arizona and Nevada deserts. She also had a generous heart for all God's creatures, unwilling to swat a fly and determined to teach every dog she met to be conversant in French. She was a member of l'Alliance Française, volunteered at her sons' many schools and was an active and dedicated parishioner of Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church. Daniele is survived by her husband, Thomas; three children, Brendan (Louanne) Glennon, Niall Glennon and Mael (Denise) Glennon; elder sister, Marie-Claire Doherty, currently of Winchester, England; and grandchildren, Liam, Daria, Eliza, Thomas, Alexandra and Annaleah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Anne-Marie Calonne, originally or Brussels, Belgium, and most recently residing in Southampton, England; and her younger brother, Pierre, who died in childhood. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, at Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., with a reception to follow at the same location. The Reverend Father Cassiam Lewinski will celebrate the Eucharist. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Daniele's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences can be sent to www.kraftsussman.com The family would like to thank the Heritage Springs staff for their care and assistance.
