DONALD BUNCH Obituary

DONALD BUNCH Donald L. Bunch, retired cardiothoracic surgeon, retired U.S. Air Force medical officer, passed away June 10, 2016. He was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Sedgwick, Colo. He practiced medicine for over 30 years in Las Vegas, opening his own practice, Nevada Heart and Lung in 1972. After years of doing what he felt he was born to do, after many major accomplishments, after becoming one of the best in his field, he retired in 2002. We all know retirement was tough for him at first, spending as much time as he could at his beach house in Laguna Beach, Calif., making the move in 2009. He lived happily in his beach home until September 2015, when he moved into Silverado Memory Care, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., where he passed away peacefully in his sleep. Those that knew him and even those that knew of him, knew not only what a great man he was, but what a phenomenal surgeon and physician he was. He spent his entire adult life learning, saving, mentoring, teaching/educating and taking care of those that meant most to him, his patients. He's physically most remembered by his signature open necked dress shirts, gold chain with medallion and a suit jacket with the meticulously placed kerchief in the breast pocket. He was also known as a "Silver-haired Fox." We all love him deeply and he will be missed. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Serry (2007, Hawaii); and his brother, Glen Bunch (1970, Colorado). He is survived by his daughter, Kristin "Krissy" Wagner of Vancouver, Wash.; three nephews; two nieces; and their children. Services were private. Any inquiries can be forwarded to [email protected].
