Erik Qualle Obituary

ERIK QUALLE Erik Jason Qualle, 47, of Las Vegas, passed away Aug. 30, 2010. He was born Oct. 9, 1962, in Modesto, Calif., and was a 22-year resident of Nevada. Erik attended UNLV and graduated from UNR. Planning to teach, instead, he ended up selling automobiles for 10 years. After being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, he entered the casino industry as a dealer. This job fit Erik and he has made many friends from all over the country, as well as his fellow employees. Erik always enjoyed his job at Treasure Island and Wynn Resorts. Through illness and many years of pain and suffering, he continued to work, as he always believed the people he met made him feel better. He loved to travel and had many plans in the future for many more trips. Erik was an accomplished writer who never stopped writing. He earned a Golden Pen Award for an article that he submitted in the Reno Gazette while still in college. He was a regular letter writer to all newspapers, opining and offering much wisdom. Erik and his wife, Anna, had met in college and were friends for 15 years before marrying. Together, they raised Anna's daughter, Nathalie, who is attending her first year at George Mason Law School in Virginia. Erik was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clarence Qualle; maternal grandfather, Dale Thompson; and maternal grandmother, Cleo Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Anna; daughter, Nathalie Thomas; paternal grandmother, Grace Qualle; father and stepmother, Barrie and Geraldine Qualle; mother and stepfather, Lori and Bill Bingham; stepmother and care giver, Gayle Qualle Norona; brothers, Jeff Qualle (wife, Melissa) and Kevin Qualle (wife, Melissa; sisters, Kristin Mazka (husband, Dennis) and Sheila Reed (husband, Jeff); six nephews; five nieces; and a large extended family. Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane. Donations may be made to the Cynthia Fund, which is an organization of Erik's coworkers for a wonderful little girl with Cerebral Palsy who needs a lot of uninsured services, at http://www.Cynthiafund.com

It's been 15 years since you passed and I had no idea. My apologies to the Qualle Family. I knew Eric as Jeff's "little brother" and, in my awkward adolescence, viewed him only as such. But, I knew one big thing for certain that you had going for you, your Brother Jeff loved you very much and was very protective over you. That is until the obvious happened, YOU weren't LITTLE anymore . If you ever read this Jeff, please know that I'm very sorry that you lost your Little Brother and I apologize for not being aware and missing his Memorial service. Tale comfort in this, by the way you treated Eric, everyone could tell that you loved and were loyal to him. Eric certainly knew it too.
Rest in Peace, Eric, until we meet again.

Lorraine, Barrie and family, The death of Erik is not the time to weep, for Erik has gone and shall no more return. It is time for rejoicing, for the Lord, our God, has brought his child to sit by him...forever. This is a time for all to remember the pleasant times that were shared between yourself and Erik. Do not be selfish and wish them back, for Erik has gained what every human desires...eternal peace. With fond memories and our deepest sympathy, Barbara and Don Nunn

Was a friend of Eric during his high school days at Downey High in Modesto CA in the late 1970's. He was a good friend and I have many fond memories. He will be missed by me and our mutual friends from that short time some 30 years ago.

I never met Erik , just read his passing in the lvrj and he touched me. He sounds like such a generous, kind young man. And to give to a little girl with cerebral palsy just broke my heart. how kind and caring you are Erik. God bless you and your family. thank you for touching me.

My connection with Erik was short but memorable. I was a life guard at the Hughson Swimming Pool one year and I lived across the street from the pool. Erik was much younger and would come visit very often. I remember Erik to be a friendly, vivacious, intelligent fella and always enjoyed his company. Rest in peace Erik and let your family find peace in their loss.

Erik, I will think of you and about the trip we had planned to go to D.C. Wish we could have made it. Man, we would have had some fun. I am blessed to have reconnected with you over the past ten years. Be at peace.

Miss your voice brother. Daniel and I set out a slice of pizza last night for you while I told him more about how generous you were towards him. He's been sleeping with the elephant you gave him. Your best friend, Mike
