Frank Flansburg Obituary

FRANK FLANSBURG JR. Frank M. Flansburg Jr. (Sept. 14, 1944 - Sept. 18, 2010), age 54 plus 12 years, completed his life's journey in the early morning hours of Sept. 18, 2010. Frank was born in Philadelphia, and grew up in Edgewater Park, N.J. Since 1985, Frank called Las Vegas home after moving his family here from the east coast. From his voluntary service as a U.S. Marine Corps sergeant in the Vietnam War to a team leader for Potlatch Corporation, Frank worked hard throughout his life without complaint. If there was a job to be done - any job, he did it with pride. And more often than not, Frank worked more than one of those jobs at the same time. For a man who did not define himself by his job, Frank was an exercise fanatic with an unparalleled work ethic, obnoxious humor, and a principled and humble approach toward life. At age 54, Frank and his family received the gift of life in a donated heart, which extended his time with his family another 12 years. Today, he is survived by his five children, Deirdre Majkowski (Paul), James C., Brian M. (Jennifer), Frank M. III (Anneliese) and Jessica S.; his 10 grandchildren; his sisters, Carol Kane, Lynn Gosizk, Diane Carlson, Mariellen Parks and Jaimee Gilmartin; and most importantly his wife, of nearly 40 years, Micki. Of all of the lives he touched and all he accomplished during his time with us, perhaps the two most important are that he lived his life as a good man and had truly found the love of his life with Micki. He is missed more than words can express. We will be celebrating his life 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., with a reception immediately following. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Nevada Donor Network at www.nvdonor.org/donate.html

Woke up this morning and thought, I can't call you to wish you a "Happy Birthday" this year. Last year was a very memorable day for you. Busy all day with people visiting and calling. When Lynn & I finally got through to extend our good wishes, you were so tired & worn out for the day. We laughed and said, we would call the next day to catchup. Sure would be great if the clock could be turned back, then I would be able to say "Happy Birthday" to you and hear your voice! Just wanted to let you know I love you, and will always remember your special day.

Love to a wonderful Brother,
Your Sister,
Carol

Today is January 1st, 2011. Sitting here at my computer, just thinking about, my brother Frank. Months have gone by so quickly with trying to get ready for the holidays, but not a moment went by that memories of him were embedded in my mind and heart. Still miss talking with him. My eyes are filled with tears knowing that I will never be able to hug him or see his wonderful smile again.
Love,
Your Sister,
Carol

I am glad to have met and known Frank. For the short time that I knew and worked under him at the Review-Journal Mailroom it was a pleasure. He has left a memory with me that will always stay. He was the type of person that left a positive mark.

Today, the memorial wil be held for my brother, Frank. With all my heart wish I could be there with family and friends. My thoughts just keep pondering how blessed I have been to have had such a wonderful caring brother. When Frank came home to visit, with tears in his eyes, he said to me, I came home to say goodbye. Little did I know that it would be so soon that he would leave us. My heart feels broken right now, but I will always remember Frank as the loving brother he was! Never ever to be forgotten!

To the Family, My deepest condolences. May God comfort the family and friends of Frank Flansburg, Jr. We can all look forward to the time when death will be no more and instead of tears of sorrow there will be tears of happiness. Frank was my big brother (62 years) whom I looked up to and admired. He deeply loved his family, they were his world. Frank was a loving and caring person. I am so thankful for the visit he made with his wife Micki, daughter Jessica and granddaughter Jocelin to New Jersey for a visit. There were many who share time with Frank. We all had a fantastic time leaving us with the most wonderful memories to cherish for a life time.

I met the Flansburg family in 1960 and they became my "adopted family". I have many fond memories of Frank. He always was a kind and caring man. I know he is in heaven now. My heart is heavy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Micki and all of the family.

Frank & Micki's visit here in August have left me with many fond memories to cherish forever! Seeing, Frank sitting at the end of the kitchen table eating his breakfast consisting of eggs, pork roll and an english muffin. Every morning would ask him what he would like for breakfast, he would smile and say, I think I will have some eggs, pork roll and an english muffin. We would all laugh and he did have the same menu everyday for the week they were here. Just wanted to share this memory.
