Jake Fonte Obituary

JAKE FONTE Jake Michael Fonte, age 6, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his parents, after a valiant battle with leukemia. Born in Las Vegas, he was a lifetime resident. He flew with his angels to our Heavenly Father Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at 12:45 p.m. Jake fought cancer like the bravest warrior in the world. He loved his friends and family and was very compassionate to other children fighting illnesses. A thrill seeker, he loved roller coasters and never found one that he was afraid of. Jake loved to laugh; he loved to tell jokes and he had a great sense of humor. Although Jake's time with us was brief, he gave and received tremendous love, and will be missed dearly. Jake is survived by his loving parents, Caesar and Megan; brothers, Nicholas and Alexander; his grandparents, Enrique and Hilda Fonte and Donald Welsh; aunts and uncles, Fulgencio and Manela Antuna (Godparents), Carlos and Kim Fonte, Will and Heather Fonte, Catheryn Welsh, Matthew and Sarah Welsh and Michael Welsh; cousins, Tiffany, Andrew, Kristina, Gwendolyn, Christopher, Campion and Courtney; and many loving extended family members. Visitation will be from noon-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at St. Thomas More Catholic Community Church, 130 N. Pecos Road. Interment will follow the Mass at Palm Valley View Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Candlelighters, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases.
