Joan Buckley Obituary

Joan D. Buckley, 71, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 21, 2005. She was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Cambridge, Ohio, and resided in Las Vegas for 40 years. She graduated law school from Ohio State University and was one of the first women attorneys practicing law in Nevada. Joan worked in the City Attorney's Office, was Deputy District Attorney, a URESA hearing master, and an arbitrator. She worked for Stewart Title and Hughes Tool and Mining as an attorney before private practice. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Joseph Miketo of Byesville, Ohio. Joan is survived by her daughter, Melanie VanBurch; sons, Shawn Buckley and Barry Buckley; brother, Edward (Marge) Miketo of Cleveland; grandchildren, Brittany Buckley, Connor Buckley, Cody Buckley and Caden Buckley of Las Vegas; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Buckley. Viewing will be private, Friday, Feb. 25, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Donations can be made to Shade Tree Shelter, P.O. Box 669, Las Vegas, NV 89125.
