Joy Maher

JOY MAHER Joy M. Maher, 70, a homemaker, of Las Vegas, formerly of Avenel, N.J., passed away Friday Feb. 20, 2009. She was born April 26, 1938, in Irvington, N.J., and was a 13-year resident of Nevada. Joy was very active as an Elder and Deacon while serving her Lord in her church in Avenel, N.J., as well as serving as a Deacon in the Summerlin Presbyterian Church. Joy was also very involved in working on many committees, including Amazing Grace, which is dedicated to feeding the homeless. Joy was a very dedicated person who loved Jesus and enjoyed working for the Lord, as was shown in her involvement in her Thursday and Friday morning Bible studies. Joy was a 1956 graduate of Irvington High School. Joy was cremated and gave even more of herself upon her death by being an organ donor. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Nancy Day; maternal grandparents, Marie and Harry Nanny; sisters, Ethel and Irna; and brother, Irwin (Duffy). Joy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, of 50 years, Dave; her daughters, Debbie of Portland, Ore., and Donna of Las Vegas; sons, David Jr. and Daniel (Dorette), both of Las Vegas; her grandchildren, Zack, Alyssa, and twins, Danielle and Daelin; and her many nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Joy. There will be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Summerlin Presbyterian Church, 4590 S. Hualapai Way, Las Vegas, NV 89147.
