Raymond Robert Ferrett of
Chalfont, Pennsylvania, beloved husband, father, and brother, died on Sunday March 1st. He was 81 years old.
Son of the late Roman and Leona (Januszewski) Ferrett, Raymond was born in
Newark, New Jersey and grew up in Newark and
Irvington, NJ with four siblings. As a boy he spent summers with his Polish grandparents in Taylor and
Old Forge, PA, which inculcated in Raymond a lasting bond with his family's history.
He attended St. Charles Borromeo School and Essex Catholic High School in Newark, then graduated from Irvington High School in the class of 1962. Raymond joined the U.S. Air Force in 1963, serving at McGuire AFB in New Jersey and Altus AFB in Oklahoma.
After four years in the service, he attended Rutgers University, then began a career in insurance, working at the General Adjustment Bureau in
Union, NJ where he formed enduring friendships. Raymond married the former Constance Leonardis in 1976, and Ray and Conny settled in
Cranford, NJ with their son Andrew.
In 1991, Raymond began a new job in Philadelphia at CIGNA, and relocated with his wife and son to Bucks County. He later worked at insurance companies General Accident in Philadelphia and Republic Western in Bucks County. In retirement he enjoyed doing part-time marketing with ACRE Windows at home shows and events in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Intelligent, inquisitive, and thoughtful, Raymond made friends wherever he went with his love of conversation and genuine interest in others. He was always happy to talk about classic movies, music, geography, and history. A talented illustrator, he possessed a keen eye for details, and took great pleasure in exploring the historic landscapes of the Delaware River valley. As a young man, he traveled in Europe where he built a robust appreciation for fine architecture, painting, wine, and food. His talent for cooking and hosting with Conny made their home the hub of many cheerful gatherings. Raymond's best qualities shined in his role as a father, encouraging his son's personal development with focused and devoted counsel. He loved to go on "rambles" with Andrew, finding interest, beauty, and meaning in out-of-the-way places that time had forgotten.
Raymond's memory will be cherished by Conny Ferrett, his loving wife of fifty years; his son Andrew Ferrett; and daughter-in-law Katie Hoetzer. He will be deeply missed by his sisters Elaine Ferrett Sands (Howard) of Eagle Point, OR and Donna Ferrett of Hatfield, MA, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Rick.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet Raymond's family at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Montgomeryville on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 10:00am, until the start of the Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will take place privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Raymond's name to the Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center at 1531 Upper Stump Road,
Chalfont, PA 18914, or online at https://www.aark.org/.
