Gerard J. Hesdon, of Churchville, died unexpectedly on Friday March 6, 2026 at his residence. He was 86. Gerard was a beloved husband of 36 years to the late Anne C. Murray Hesdon.

He was born in Liverpool, England. Gerard was the son of the late James Gerard and Katherine Lennox Hesdon, the father of the late Gerard James Hesdon, Jr., and youngest brother of the late John, James, Francis, and Thomas Hesdon, and Donald, Bernard, and Kevin Brooks.

Jerry is survived by his three beloved children, Katharine A. Cichonski and her husband Joseph J. Spinelli, Jr. of Churchville, Patricia B. "Tish" Savidge and her husband Brian M. Savidge of Churchville, and Jonathan J. Hesdon and his wife Regina L. Hesdon of Doylestown. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Haley Anne and Devon Jude Cichonski, Chase Michael and Taylor Nicole Spinelli; Tessa Ryan, Kendall Murray and Teagan Mary Savidge; Madison Anne, Hannah Avery, Charlotte (Charlee) Jude and Cayden James Hesdon.

Jerry, known to the English-side of the family as "Geggs", emigrated to the United States sailing across "The Pond" on a cruise ship alone in 1953 from England to join his father, stepmother, and brothers who were established in Mt. Airy, PA. He proudly served in the U.S, Army and Army Reserve from July 1962 to June 1968. He later settled in Chestnut Hill, PA with his wife Anne where they started their family on E. Abington Avenue. In 1974, Jerry and Anne moved to Churchville, PA where they raised their children and resided until his death.

After the passing of his wife, Anne in 2001; Jerry retired from Daniel C. Tanney, Inc. a steel fabrication and powder finishing company in Eddington, Pa after 30 years as the maintenance foreman. Immediately following his career in the steel business, he began his second calling: full time Grampop. He served daily meals, drove to and from school, attended sporting events, and dropped off forgotten items without a moment's hesitation for 23 years. He semi-retired in 2024 from his school care duties and was just Grampop. After passing the torch to his eldest daughter, Katharine aka "Aunt Rinny" in 2025; Jerry could be spotted as her ride-along to pick up his grandson, Cayden James, from preschool one day a week.

Jerry was never one to sit still. He filled his time building model ships, working on puzzles, reading books, watching the 76ers and women s college basketball; and above all fixing everything that was broken. He could be found, at all hours, in his workshop. If he wasn t fixing or building something for one of his children or grandchildren, he was thinking about it or researching how to make it right. In recent years, if he wasn t sunning himself by the pool, he could be found at his eldest granddaughter s, rebuilding and remodeling her first home. Jerry was an involved father and grandfather who would do anything for his children and grandchildren on a moment's notice. He would hear, "Dad could you?" or "Grampop, I need you to and he would always answer, "I ll be right there", and he always was. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, March 20, 2026 from 9:00 AM until his funeral service at 10:00 AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Road (at Holland Rd) Richboro, PA 18954. Jerry's interment with military honors will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pa.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or to Breast Cancer Research in his name.
