Keith Pendleton Obituary

KEITH PENDLETON Lowell Keith Pendleton, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, after several years of poor health. He was born March 9, 1925, to Gus Chatterley Pendleton and Marvel Estella Abbott in Bunkerville. As a young child, he lived in Bunkerville and Las Vegas for a short time then in 1936, he moved to St. George, Utah. He lived there until he graduated from Dixie High School in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy Submarine Division. He married Gay Armstrong in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple June 17, 1952. He lived in St. George for nearly a year then moved to Henderson in 1953. He served in many leadership positions in the LDS Church, including counselor in three bishoprics, a Stake High Councilman, Ward Mission Leader, and a Las Vegas Temple Ordinance worker, as well as other various callings. He had great talent in developing, assembling, and fabricating all sorts of mechanical equipment. He worked at Titanium, Taylor Steel, and for the past 32 years, he worked at Jake's Crane and Rigging as superintendent of fabrication until he retired in 2004 because of health problems. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his younger sister, Gloria Westover. Survivors include his beloved wife and companion, Gay, of 56 years; son, David (Vickie) of Alpine, Utah; daughters, Kathleen Spellman (Don), Susan Harris (John) of Henderson, Chloe Dufurrena of McDermitt and Randee Maynard (Chuck) of Carson City; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dan and Jim Pendleton of Ivins, Utah; two sisters, Maxine Phillips of St. George, and Nita Ashby of Washington, Utah. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, in the Arrowhead LDS Chapel, 801 Arrowhead Trail, Henderson. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery, St. George, Utah, under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary, 702 398-3600.
