Kevin James Dold

KEVIN DOLD Kevin James Dold, of Buffalo, N.Y., passed away at his residence in Portola, Calif., Dec. 21, 2013. Kevin was born the youngest child to Ronald and Evelyn Dold, and was a life-long resident of Las Vegas, where he managed the Tropicana poker room and served as a poker dealer at several Las Vegas Strip casinos. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Kevin served honorably for eight years in the U.S. Navy, where he traveled all over the world in service to his country. In his 30's, he met and married the love of his life, Cheryl, whom he has two children with. Kevin was known affectionately by his best friend as "the Doc," because he was wise beyond his years and seemed to know everything, at least he thought he did. He was known by his nephews and nieces as "Uncle Funny," because he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He was known by his son, James, as "the best man I ever knew," because of the selflessness, sacrifice, compassion, kindness, and love that he devoted to his family and to his country. Beneath a hard adversity-worn exterior was a gentle man who cared and did more for others than he did for himself. He was a brilliant poker player, devoted patriot, and loving family man. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald. Kevin is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, James, Nichole, Roger, Shawna, Shannon, Kevin and Lisa; grandchildren, Kenton, Michael and Amanda; sister-in-law, Judy; nieces and nephews, Karen, Karissa, Kelly, Jamie, Kevin and Braden; and best friends, Eddie and Wendy. Services for Kevin are pending.
