ROBERT LEA Obituary

ROBERT LEA March 4, 1941 - March 14, 2014. Robert Edward Lea, born March 4, 1941, in Ely, to Mary Lou Sallee and Robert Vernon Lea, passed away March 14, 2014, in Coos Bay, Ore. Robert was a long-time resident of Las Vegas. He attended 5th Street Grammar School and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1959. Robert married Linda Lou Meade Sept. 9, 1959. He then joined the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Robert was admitted and completed the plumber/pipe fitting apprenticeship. He was initiated as a member Nov. 9, 1962. He worked as a superintendent for many years and was also a very well respected instructor for the apprentice program. Robert was a member of Plumbers Pipefitters Union Local 525 and retired Nov. 1, 1996. Robert enjoyed many hobbies with his passions being travel, motocross, fishing, hunting, guns, and corvettes. Robert also truly loved his country. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou Bonner and Robert Vernon Lea, and Linda Lou Lea; his son, Lawrence Scott Lea; and his brother, Charles Christopher Bonner. Robert is survived by his brother, Patrick Lea (Aleta) of Poulsbo, Wash.; sister, Caroline Thomsen (Nick) of Las Vegas; brother, Michael Bonner (Roxi) of Las Vegas; sister, Shelley Bonner Carson (Monte) of Las Vegas; daughters, Kelley Lynn Lea of Las Vegas and Julie Anna Lea of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, Daniel, Nicholas, John, Joseph, Jessica and Allison; and many nephews and nieces. Robert was loved by many and will genuinely be missed by all. Contributions in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675, in Robert's name. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary 405 Elrod Ave., Coos Bay, Oregon 541/267-4216.
