Ronald Cajka Obituary

Jan. 6, 1932 - April 14, 2006. Ronald S. Cajka, 74, of Woodsfield, Ohio, formally of Henderson, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 14, 2006. He was laid to rest April 18, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, Ohio. The Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik presided. Ron, was born in Cleveland, Jan. 6, 1932, the son of the late Stephen Fredrick Cajka and Dorthea Marie Haas Cajka. He joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Atka as a photographer under the command of Admiral Richard E. Byrd, in Operation Deep Freeze. His assignment was to photograph the continent of Antarctica, and also photo document the return to "Little America" as well as other explorations to the North and South Poles. He settled in Henderson in 1960. He worked as a mason in the stone and tile industry as a master journeyman. He taught the trade to his sons as well as many others that are currently working in the Las Vegas Valley as masters of the trade. His favorite pastime was his ranch in Utah. He retired, and moved to Woodsfield, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Virgie A. Davis Cajka; sister, Elaine Cajka Mauer of Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Ronette Cyka and Dr. Michael Verni; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Suzette Cajka, Curtis and Lori Cajka of Nevada; stepsons, Scott Davis and Chuck Husted; stepdaughter, Teresa Dozier of Ohio; and 10 grandchildren. He will truly be missed.
