Stanton Dekko Obituary

Stanton Edward Dekko, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at his home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 75 years. He was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Ada, Minn., the son of Edward and Clara Dekko. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he met his wife, of 50 years, Dolores Guillory Dekko, in Louisiana, and raised their family. In 1991, Stanton retired to Hailey, Idaho, and Las Vegas, from his position as vice-president of John E. Chance & Associates in Lafayette, La. Stanton will be remembered fondly by his family as a quiet and extraordinary man always caring more for others than himself with his generosity, wisdom and open heart. Through his life his family continued to refer to him by the nickname given to him by his mother, "a prince of a boy". Stanton charmed everyone he met with his warm smile and Scandinavian blue eyes. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Dekko; and children, Emily Kei Kohara Fontenot, Susan Kohara Rixman, David Kohara, Patrice C. Dekko, Christine Dekko Rolf and Allan W. Dekko. Stanton also leaves grandchildren, April Fontenot Magana, Paris Renee Fontenot Sanchez, Vanessa Fontenot Rubin, James Sparks, Karan Sparks, Kathryn Kohara Beagan, Sarah Kohara, David S. Kohara, Thayne Rolf and Eriksen Rolf; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Stanton are his sisters, Adeline Bernhardson, Evie Bang, Bunny Sullivan, Sherry Samuelson and Karen Dekko. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Chet Dekko. Services were previously held. The family request any memorials be made to Creekside Hospice, 3675 Pecos McLeod, Suite #900, Las Vegas, NV 89121 or the Dekko Scholarship Fund in Ada, Minn.
