Suki Colton Obituary

SUKI COLTON Suki Colton, 39 (and recycling), of Searchlight, passed away Oct. 30, 2010. Born in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, Suki was amazingly positive and could accomplish anything. She enjoyed being with friends, telling a good joke, sitting in the garden among the flowers and butterflies with her husband looking out onto what they called their own "private Acapulco." Constantly active, she loved to travel by car, boat or plane, but loved watching the world go by through the window of a train. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with family and was genuinely excited to be at ball games, recitals, birthdays, and festivals. It did not matter what city she was in, she would manage to find an art in the park festival. She was a hair stylist who started her career in Beverly Hills among the stars. She moved to Las Vegas in the 60's and worked at a salon in the Sahara Hotel until she met her soulmate, Stan, whom she married just four weeks after their first date. In the 80's she returned to doing hair as the owner of "Z-Hair," an "All Sex Hair Salon." Regardless of what Suki was doing, she had a way of connecting with people thus changing their lives and sometimes career paths. She lived by this quote, kept in her purse for over 20 years, from her spiritual teacher Vernon Howard, "Permitting your life to be taken over by another person is like letting the waiter eat your dinner." She was an amazingly loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her humor, memorable sayings and positive nature will remain in our hearts. "We love you forever and ever..." She was preceded in death by her mother, Naty Meyer; and grandmother, Felicitas "Mama Chita" Gomez. She is survived by her husband, Stanton (former State Treasurer of Nevada); three children, Tyler, Kimberly Bosnos and husband, Jason, and Bradford and wife, Dawn; four grandchildren, Sara, Colton, Haley and Cody; and brother, Raymond Guzman. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, in the garden of Suki's home, 673 US Highway 95 South in Searchlight.

Dear Stan & the Colton Family
Please accept our sincere and heartfelt sympathy.
I worked with Suki in the 60's at the Sahara Hotel.I knew when I met her she was a very special person and extremely talented hair stylist. The Salon would light up with her laughter and smile. When our paths crossed again a few years ago there was alot of laughter reminiscing about the "old days." Her warmth and positive personality will never be forgotten.

When I met Suki she hugged me like I was a long lost friend.I will never forget her warmth.Earlier this year she and Stan took us on a great historical tour of Searchlight & Cottonwood Cove. I will never forget the laughter from that day.
