Veronica Knox Obituary

VERONICA KNOX Veronica Rena Knox, 37, of Las Vegas, passed away Aug. 23, 2009, from complications of a head injury. She was born Feb. 3, 1972, and was a lifelong resident of Las Vegas. Veronica was a 1990 graduate of Southern Nevada Vocational Technical High School, where she studied occupational health. Veronica's career started in the gaming industry at the MGM Grand Hotel as a hostess, then Fitzgerald's Hotel, followed by Silver Nugget Casino as a cocktail waitress. Veronica leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Patricia Knox; father, Billy (Mary) Knox; daughter, Monica Martin-Knox, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Joe (Andrea) Bell; one sister, Quinsonya (Roderick) Smith; one niece, Mya Smith; three nephews, Joe Jr., Jarrell and Quinton; and a host of family and friends. Veronica's greatest attribute was the ability to interject a "little sunshine" into any situation, no matter how dismal. Viewing will be 2-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., in Las Vegas. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Calvary Southern Baptist Church, 1600 E. Cartier Ave., in North Las Vegas. Our errand being one of grace, the Lord will hear us when we ask his presence in it. Now, his Spirit is not "the spirit of fear :" it is the "spirit of love, and of power, and of a sound mind" (2 Tim. 1:7).

WITH SYMPATHY FOR YOUR LOSS

When your dear child is suddenly gone.
Leaving you here to try and carry on.
To grieve in silence or scream out loud.
To say harsh words or to just be proud
Of her courageous battle to the end.
Knowing that you were her best friend.
much more than Mommy to your little.
You did everything to brighten her world.
She finally had to let go of your hand
To start her journey to a heavenly land.
Tears may run in rivulets down your cheeks.
Sobbing and grief is not considered weak.
It helps with coping for the young and old.
A healing balm for the grieving soul.

May God comfort you through the tough times. You have my condolences

Death, be not proud

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
