Saying goodbye to my mother was the hardest thing I had ever done. She was such an amazing, strong, beautiful, kind, caring women. I am still in shock from the day she was diagnosed with brain cancer. The night we lost her I was scared to see her because I just didn't know what to expect and I never want to go back to the night again it was the hardest day of my entire life. Living without a mom it's not fair, everyone as a child should have 2 parents. I need a mom in my life. I need someone to help me with girl and boy problems, and my prom, and wedding. I would like to look at her in my mind the way she was before cancer but it's hard to do that when u saw her everyday with cancer and how it changed her. The first week back to school was a tough week. I couldn't focus on anything at all because all I could think about was her and the impact she made on my life. I just wanted to be left alone I didn't want to talk to anyone at all I just wanted to cry. I remember she said to me "I hate what this is doing to you" and I said "it's only making me stronger." But I hate more what it did to her. Mom I just pray that you are happy now and in peace. I know you will be with me every step of the way. I love and miss you so very much. RIPā¤

Saying goodbye to my sweet girl is the hardest thing I have had to do in my life.
When you were diagnosed last Jan. 2013, my quest began to try to help you become yourself once again.
You finally made me realize that was not going to happen.
In the last few weeks as family and friends came to visit and say their good byes, you made all of us realize just how brave you were.
You were teaching us once again how to be strong and have courage.
I pray that you help Abbey & Gwen as they grow into adults. It will be difficult not to have their mom during these special years to come.
Please help me with that Debbie.
They are missing you but I don't think they have realized the full impact of your being gone.
Forgive me for trying to keep you here with me.
I am so sorry you had to go through all you did.
I realize that God must have needed you more.
Now you are with your little angel Charlotte Hope in Heaven and
enjoying all of our loved ones in Heaven too. Sweetheart,
keep dancing with the angels in God's beautiful garden.
My sweet girl, I love you to the Moon and back.
I will miss you forever and forever. Till we meet again.
Loving you always. Mom

I do not know if I can ever find the words to express the loss that I feel in losing our most beautiful daughter. My greatest joy in life has been the my marriage and the birth of our children--Kip, Debbie, Cindy and Jaclyn. I can not get the image of Debbie out of my mind. Debbie was a picture of beauty and I continue to remember her in that way and not as she suffered with the changes caused by cancer.
Debbie loved to teach and she was exceptional at her profession and was a model teacher by all those who witnessed her at work.
One of Debbie's personal traits were her thank you notes. She was frustrated when she could no longer write them and God knows she tried. For those of you who were fortunate to get one PLEASE embrace and cherish it for you know it came from a very caring person.
Debbie was a terrific mother and made sure that her daughters were active and in touch with the arts. It hurts me to know that they will never experience the warmth of their mother at graduation, prom, marriage and the birth of their own children. I am also saddened that they will no longer feel their mother's touch as she stroked their arm as her mother once did to her.
My God it is hard to let her go but I feel that she had suffered enough and it was time to say good bye.
Debbie ---Be at peace. Be at peace. I love you so much,
Dad

We were fortunate enough to have Debbie as my daughter's 6th grade teacher. She was an encouraging loving teacher who was able to see the best in all her students. She had a way of taking shy unsure kids and help them shine.
Feel so lucky to have known her.

I am a retired teacher from UCS. I worked with Debbie from 2002-2004 as she was the co-chair of the Elementary World Language Program in Utica Community Schools. Her knowledge and expertise - and her kindness and compassion were on display - always. We were blessed to have had her as our leader. She will be missed - by everyone with whom she had contact - as she was such a special woman - truly incredible!!!!!

As little girls, you were my favorite friend to be with. As we grew older, we settled into married lives as moms, and although we didn't see each other as much as we wanted to, you sent me a birthday card every year with a lottery ticket. I realize now, that I already won the lottery a long time ago by having you as a friend. Goodbye my dear friend-Te extrano para siempre-I will miss you forever!

My daughter, Stephanie had Ms McConkey last year in 6th grade. Stephanie had always loved to write but last year having Debbie for a teacher she developed an incredible passion for it and wrote her first novel (yes she is still a 7th grader) this year. She will dedicate her first book to Debbie. In the times I was in Debbie's classroom helping out I got to know Debbie and admire her for the wonderful teacher she was. We send our deepest sympathy to all her family in this difficult time.

I am so sad that my dear friend, Debbie, has lost her battle with cancer. Her determination and courage was unmatched. She did everything doctors asked and nothing worked.
