Robert J. Fraser, age 83, a lifelong resident of Mount Clemens, Michigan died on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. He was born October 5, 1927 in Mount Clemens to the late Walter A. and Catherine Peltier Fraser. On May 21, 1949 in Mount Clemens, he was united in marriage to the former Nancy A. Wallace. Together they celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. Our father was one in a million. He was the most kind, generous man and loving husband/dad/grandpa anyone could be blessed to have. He lives inside of our hearts always. Mr. Fraser was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School, Detroit Business College and received a bachelor degree and completed post graduate studies from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He was employed at the Mount Clemens Saving Bank for 32 years as vice president in investment banking, community and civic affairs, along with public relations for the bank. Later he was affiliated with Huntington Bank, and Bank of Commerce now known as PNC. He retired in 1989. Active with community relations and civic affairs, he served on the Board of Directors of the Macomb County USO, was Macomb County chairman for Michigan Week, member of Oakland County Treasurers Association, Chairman of Macomb County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee, member of Government Relations Committee of American Bankers Association, Washington DC, board member and treasurer of Macomb County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and honored twice as Macomb County Citizen of the Week by radio station WBRB. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where he served three pastors on the church committee, and on the fund raiser committee. He was a Eucharistic Minister of the church, and was instrumental with others in founding the SMASH fund raiser (a golf outing) to support St. Mary's Catholic School. He was a member of the Base Community Council, lifetime member Am Vets Post #29, the Old Crowd, and he enjoyed golfing and following the Detroit Tigers. He is survived by his wife Nancy, children, Mark, Jeffrey, Kathryn and Debbie, grandchildren, Stefanie, Emily, Evan and Robert J., great grandchildren Grace and Ayden, nieces Maureen Fraser and Kathleen Fraser, great nieces, Roxanne (Bob), Claudette, great nephew Craig (Jennifer), and dear friend Bob Kogelschatz. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brother Vincent and nephew Vincent. Burial has taken place at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan. A memorial mass will be held at a time to be announced. Contributions may be addressed to St. Mary Catholic School Hearts and Stones Endowment Fund or the Martha T.
