Billy Padgett Obituary

Billy W. Padgett
7/28/1941 - 11/11/2017
Cochran, Georgia- Funeral services for Billy W. Padgett, 76, of Cochran, who died Saturday Nov. 11, 2017 at his residence, will be held Monday 1 P.M. in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Rustin and Rev. Ken Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Billy was born in Bleckley Co. July 28, 1941 to the late Hudson and Susie Coley Padgett. He was a graduate of Cochran High School where he played on the 1959 State Championship basketball team. He was chosen and played on the North-South All Star Team that year. He attended and played basketball for South Georgia Technical School in Americus and Middle Georgia College in Cochran. He was a member of Cochran First Baptist Church. He was a charter member of Uchee Trail Golf Course in Cochran.
He was employed by the Dupree family-owned restaurant, The Grill in Cochran and later became an owner of the business. He later worked for and retired after 36 years of service from Dykes Grassing Co. He was preceded in death by infant daughter Stacy Lynn Padgett, and brother Leonard Outler Padgett.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Janice Dupree Padgett of Cochran, loving, faithful son Derek (devoted Daughter- in- Law Margaret) Padgett of Cochran; granddaughter Lauren (Brooks) Gray; grandson Tyler Padgett and beloved great granddaughters Makenly and Emmy Gray all of Cochran; brothers Hudson "Bubba" (JoAnn) Padgett, Wallace (Linda) Padgett and Jimmy (Linda) Padgett all of Cochran; sisters Nadine Holland of Cochran, Peggy (Leroy) Baugher of Watkinsville, Paulette (Lee) Watson of Valdosta and brother in law Steve (Connie) Dupree of Cochran.
Bill will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting and especially golf. None of these surpassed the love he had of spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughters. They were blessed to call him their PaPa.
The family will be at Padgett residence on 9th St. Terrace and will meet friends in the Chapel following the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Cochran.

Since Ronnie doesn't do Facebook, he always looked forward to our annual bird shoot here at our place and until recent years, Billy was always here. He was a loving and caring man, always bragging on his family. You will be missed Billy but our memories of you will last forever.
