I will say that this is a very difficult time for us all. Just thinking about the impact that has been felt around the nation, one could only ponder the impact that will be realized by those who were the closest to Bishop Stephens. With this in mind i do extend my deepest & earnest heartfelt sympathy to Mother Pansy Stephens & family, & church family. We can all take heart, because God will never leave us nor forsake us. Growing up one thing I will remember about him is hearing him bring the message at Homecoming at Dixon Temple and hearing the Choir Sing. That was something I looked forward to every year.

We will miss you. You have made more of a difference in my life then you will ever know. It was under your leadership and love that I came to know Christ and see first hand what it meant to be a Godly man. You lived what you preached and showed love to those who spoke ill of you. I can hear you talking now about how you just love people and how it is your duty to love everyone and pray for them no matter what they say or do. When I tried to give up on a situation you told me in bold terms "Brother Lawrence you have to step up and be a man and deal with the situation. It may not be easy, but that's the way it is" Thank you for being who you were and living a life that was pleasing to God.

Bishop Stephens was more than just a pastor to my self and my family. He was just like a father. He loved us and he told us and most importantly like he taught us, he showed it. My church family and I were truely blessed to have him in our life. He will truely be missed. We love you mother Stephens.

I always enjoyed being around the Bishop. He and I often wondered if we were related because of our last names. I will forever remember his smile and our conversations together. ...Truly a wonderful man of God and a great friend in the ministry to know. He always had a way of brightening my day when I would see him around town, especially when he asked me "When are you coming back to visit my church and play that keyboard?" My heart goes out to his family, other friends, and congregation during this time of bereavement, but also be consoled that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!
