Macon, GA- Dr. Christopher Hendry, 49, of Macon, died unexpectedly June 22, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Luce Heart Tower Lobby, 755 Hemlock Street, Macon, Georgia. A memorial service in Valdosta will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Georgia Regional Office, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201 or American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road, PMB #359, Macon, GA 31210.
Dr. Hendry was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Navicent Health Enterprise Clinical Systems. A graduate of the Mercer University School of Medicine, Dr. Hendry had been a member of the Navicent Health family since 2008. Dr. Hendry was a wonderful person, an excellent physician, a proven leader, and a gifted teacher. Prior to assuming his position as Chief Operating Officer in January of this year, he had served as the Chief Medical Officer for The Medical Center, Navicent Health and as past Director of The Medical Center's OB/GYN residency program. He was locally and nationally recognized as an excellent teacher by residents and students and was voted "Best OB/GYN in Middle Georgia" in 2009 and 2010.
Dr. Hendry positively influenced so many lives during the course of his career, including those of his patients and the residents he trained. Dr. Hendry was a brilliant teacher who touched so many lives with his kindness, gentleness and warmth.
Dr. Hendry was the son of the late Alex and Margaret Hendry. Dr. Hendry is survived by his wife, Brooke Price Hendry; children, Alexis Blanton Hendry and Jackson Lawrence Hendry and; sister, Melissa Burns Epps of Valdosta; and brothers, Mickey Burns, Danny Burns, and Dale Burns, all of Valdosta.

I met Chris when I was going through traumatic family times. He was the Dr attending the Emergency Room. Over the next 15-20 years, we became great friends. I remember the fun times we had hanging out and shooting pool while he was on call. He packed up many times to drive over to the hospital and deliver a baby. He was a compassionate doctor and a great friend. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dr Hendry was my doctor for many years. I remember when he took over for Dr George Johnston Jr.on First Street. He was my doctor until last year when he took the position at Navicent. He was always so kind. May God look over his family during this difficult time.
