From the Stein Club in the '70s to the Rookery in the '80s and '90s, and finally Loco's, David's path and mine have crossed many, many times. And for the last ten or twelve years, David was a good friend, whose company and council enhanced the quality of my own life here in Macon. Each of us have certain people that we're always glad to see and, for me, David was one of those people. His honesty without judgment, lack of pretense, and practical mindedness are things we've all sought at one time or another.

If you got to spend time with "Blue Sky", you know about his wit, wisdom, talent and perception, but to me, probably the most remarkable thing about him was the vast array of people who knew him. And a diverse array of people it was, from every level of society. I don't think he was surprised or impressed too much by anything or anybody, and certainly not threatening to anyone. Perhaps that has something to do with why so many folks held him in such high regard.

Somewhere there's a hunk of rock with his name on it, but no memorial we might erect can out shine or out live the the memorial David left in our hearts, simply by being who he was.

Have a good flight old friend, I hope your last landing is a good one...

It's good to note that the personality traits we remembered about "Warner" at Baker High continued throughout his life. In reading the various tributes from you who've known him long since our Columbus, GA years, he obviously retained the same humor and laid-back approach to life that he showed during those 'happy days.' He was a witty, unique, and gifted classmate who seems to have remained that way all of his days. Way to go, Warner; we miss you!

I guess he will always be "Warner" to me since I've known him most of my life - - during grammar school and being in the Class of '56 with him at Baker High School. Warner was quite a character and fun to be around. I can still see his smile and hear his infectuous laugh. Enjoyed him at some of our class reunions as well as talking to him when he lived in Atlanta. It saddens my heart to know that he is no longer with us.

I knew Warner fron high school days and a couple of class reunions throughout the years, and he was a special person and great fun to be around and talk with. I'll miss knowing that he is on this earth but expect that he is in an even better place. FAREWELL WARNER.

If I wrote something that I would like to, David would find it hilarious; but it wouldn't be appropriate in this venue. Sense of humor was unarguably one of his greatest attributes/gifts to the world! He was at the same time very complex & of a minimalistic character. We met & were constant companions in the mid '90's, & I regret that its been quite a while since I spent any quality time with him. I'll always cherish that laugh! Mr. Bluesky was surely loved by a lot of folks, simply & completely. Hello out there to all of you from "back in the day."

For 10 years, I leaned on David's advice. Often times the voice of wisdom during an age of trying to figure out who I was and wanted to be, "Blue Sky" was always there with a kind and selfless interest in the day to day lives of everyone he came into contact with.

I'm ashamed to say that in the last 7 years since leaving Macon, I have fallen far short of the friendship he showed me over the years, moving into a new epoch for myself, and not thinking to look back or maintain ties.

David Brannon was one of the truest folks I've ever known. A wealth of talent, heart, and soul, wrapped in a spirit of acceptance and giving. May God bless his life and memory, and may he live long in our hearts.

It has been many moons since I have seen David, but he has always filled my heart with the sureness of his presence. He held my hand through the roller coaster of life and thank him so much for that. I know he will always be alive, vivid in so many individual memories. A man that will never be forgotten. I know I will forever tell stories of him, his warmth, caring nature, and his smile and laugh!

Friendship does not end at death. It is eternal.

I met Blue Sky while tending bar at The Rookery several years ago. I can honestly say that I've had some of the best and most insightful conversations of my life with David. He was a beautiful man who had a delightful spark about him. My wife and I are with heavy heart at his departure from this earth. We love you and will always remember you Blue Sky.

David Brannon was a spiritual individual and creative visionary somewhat in the mold of an old sailor who weathered many storms and served as an inspiration to friends who sensed his presence as a wise man who had drifted out to sea and back to shore many times over. "Blue Sky" was a gentleman and artist of vast depth and perception further reflected in his eyes and clever witticisms.

In the 80's I had the priviledge of fishing with David on Lake Juliette, for trout in North Ga and the Gulf grass flats out of St Marks. I am sad to know he is not here on earth with us any longer.

Blue Sky was the ultimate artist -- fearless, principled, and coruscatingly original. He was also an empathetic friend, a Muse, and a sanity-saving touchstone for so many of us. The world is a drab and poorer place without him, though I can almost hear him chiding,"That's stupid, baby, just look at that beautiful sky!" -- Candice Dyer

It is sad to hear of the passing of this friend from years past. I always enjoyed his visits to my grill and bar on Gray Highway. You could always count on some good music coming from the old juke box when "Blue "Sky came in, especially if you liked Neil Young. He will be missed

David was a one-of-a-kind artist whose passion for life was infectious. He will be missed by so many. He is now seeing the bluest of skies, cloudless and azure. Godspeed, my friend.
