Dorothy Anne "Memaw" Dobbs

Dorothy Anne "Memaw" Dobbs -ATHENS, GA - Dorothy Anne Dobbs, 80, of Athens, GA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 29, 2010. Affectionately known to many as Memaw, she was an avid book reader, animal lover, and a true southern lady. She was born in Athens on March 8, 1930. Before spending her childhood moving around the southeast, Memaw eventually settled in Athens in 1962, where she raised her two children with her husband, W. Frank Dobbs. She was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church in Athens. Blessed with a quick wit and a great sense of humor, Memaw will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. -She is survived by her children, Mary Lyn Choate (Larry) of Macon, GA, Frank Dobbs of Athens, GA; her grandchildren, Diane Choate Hipps (Kenny), Brian Choate, Kelly Choate and Emily Dobbs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Dean Galloway and her husband of 37 years, W. Frank Dobbs. -Funeral services will be held at 2P.M. Sunday, May 2, 2010 in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. -The family will receive friends at Bridges Funeral Home on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. -Flowers are accepted or the family also requests donations be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 111 Westlake Drive, Athens, GA 30606 or the American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna, GA 30080.
