Elsa Tucker Obituary

Elsa Wofford Tucker -MCRAE - Services for Elsa Wofford Tucker will be held at 2P.M., Tuesday, March 30, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in the Telfair Memorial Gardens. Rev. Norwood Davidson and Dr. William Connell will officiate. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday at Vaughn Funeral Home. -Mrs. Tucker, 85, died peacefully, Sunday, March 28, at her home after a long illness. She was the eldest daughter of the late Algie Franklin and Ethel Edwards Wofford of Spartanburg, SC and was the wife of Chester L. Tucker of McRae. -A graduate of Pauline High School, Pauline, SC, Mrs. Tucker was a member of the First Baptist Church of McRae and the Ladies III Sunday School Class. She served as an elder in the McRae Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School most of her life and never tired of telling the story of Jesus. She achieved her goal of becoming an LPN in 1987 and served many years as a nurse. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family. -Survivors include her husband, C.L. Tucker of McRae; two children, Kay Graham, McRae and Mimi (Jack) Taylor, Seneca, SC; two grandchildren, Tuck (Heather) Graham and Jenny (William) Best, both of McRae; two sisters, Lillian (Charles) Gaines, Inman, SC and Ann Rhinehart, Grier, SC; and a brother, Joseph R. (Meredith) Wofford, Columbia, SC. Another brother, Jerry Wofford, is deceased. -The Tucker Family wishes to extend their profound gratitude to those who took such excellent care of Mrs. Tucker: Her beloved niece, Faye Smith, Nancy Lanier, Sylvia Bowen and Vikki Reaves. -Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae has charge of arrangements.
