Gailen Alfred Webb was born September 10, 1962 in Santa Cruz. He departed this life at home following a short illness on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Gailen is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Alfred Webb and Nina Marie Webb.
He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his sisters - Lynne Meurer (Richard) of Vallejo, Sharon Roman of Gilroy, a brother, Gary Webb of Missouri and nephew Jamison Meurer of Vallejo.
As owner of the Windjammer Lounge and Bar in Aptos, Gailen was able to share his love of music and sports with those he met. He sponsored many events. The annual Sam Webb Golf tournament honored his father and benefited the St. Jude's Childrens hospital. It was a fixture in the community for the last 9 years. He also sponsored many softball and dart teams over the years. The Windjammer was the venue for many local bands allowing them to perform to the enjoyment of the many patrons of the bar.
Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial Oakwood Crystal Chapel.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Santa Cruz Memorial Oakwood Crystal Chapel. This will be followed by a CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE starting at 3:00 pm at the Windjammer Lounge and Bar, 1 Rancho Del Mar, Aptos.
