Gilbert Harrell Obituary

Gilbert Roy Harrell was born on February 19, 1947 in Macon, Georgia to the parentage of the late Otis Lee Harrell and Agnes Roberts Harrell. He joined his parents on January 27, 2026. A graduate of Ballard-Hudson High School, Mr. Harrell was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Viet Nam and a conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad. Better known as "Killroy" to his friends, Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Redd Harrell; a son, Darryl Clayton; and three of his brothers, Horace Leon Harrell, Ronnie D. Harrell, and Kenneth Michael Harrell. He is survived by his children, Taj O. (Ronessa) Harrell, Carletta (Armando) Harris, and Neketta (Chederick) Perry; two sisters, Patricia A. Harrell and Kecia Harrell-West; brother, Keith D. (Edna) Harrell; two sisters-in-law, Patricia O. Harrell and Brenda G. Harrell; a goddaughter, Qiana Williams; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.



Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00am at Harmony Baptist Church, 1850 Second Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31201.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mr. Gilbert“s family. May God comfort you, and give you peace as you go through the difficult days ahead without him. I met Mr. Gilbert while visiting my brother at Macon Rehab. He was so funny. Some days were very hard for me when I watched my brother struggling with losing his independence. But Mr . Gilbert always said something that made me laugh. The last time I saw him he made me cry, because he was not feeling his usual self. Rip young man.
