H. Buckalew Obituary

H. Harold Buckalew April 25, 1925 - February 22, 2012 -GRIFFIN - Mr. H. Harold Buckalew, age 86, of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Georgia War Veteran Home, Milledgeville. -Mr. Buckalew was born on April 25, 1925 to the late Stokley Buckalew and the late Texanna Vernon Buckalew. He was married for 59 years to the late Hildred Hoard Buckalew. Mr. Buckalew is also preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Buckalew. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served in submarine service where he participated in the sinking of thousands of tons of Japanese ships during World War II. Mr. Buckalew was a member of the Griffin Kiwanis Club for 40 years. He served as the Building Official for the City of Griffin for many years. Mr. Buckalew was a licensed airplane pilot. He was a member of First Baptist Church. -Survivors include son, Buster Buckalew; grandchildren, Christy Thompson, Wesley Buckalew and his wife, Robin, Laura Ashlea Buckalew all of Macon; great grandchildren, Caitlyn Thompson, Cody Thompson, Dylan Buckalew, Devon Buckalew and Dakota Buckalew; brothers, Fred Buckalew, Lee Buckalew. -Visitation for Mr. H. Harold Buckalew will be on Sunday from 1:00pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation a memorial services conducted in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. My prayers and thoughts go out to Buster and our 2 children, Christy, Wesley and our 5 grandchildren, Cody, Caitlyn, Dylan, Devon, and Dakota. Mr. Buckalew was a kind and good man to me. I am glad he is no longer in pain and happy that he as reunited with his best friend, Mrs. Buckalew and know they are both in heaven dancing with the angels. We will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Buster, and my children Christy, and Wesley and my grandchildren Cody, Caitlyn, Dylan, Devon and Dakota. Mr. Buckalew has alway be nothing but kind and nice to me. I am glad he is no longer in pain and now has gone to be with his best friend, Mrs. Buckalew. We will miss him but we know he and Mrs. Buckalew will be dancing with the angels.
