Dennis P. Buckalew, 86, of Highland, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at San Gabriel Memory Care in Highland, IL.
He was born on September 9, 1939, in Herculaneum, MO, to Jeff and Neda (nee Rutledge) Buckalew. On June 28, 1958, he married Phyllis Evans in Hernando, MS.
Dennis, a founding member of Highland Community Church in Highland, IL, endlessly endeavored to share the good news of the saving grace of Jesus Christ with those around him. He served proudly in the United States Army for several years and later was self-employed as a Certified Financial Planner. An avid car lover, Dennis enjoyed going to car shows, even entering his own cars at times. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; always dedicated to the happiness and welfare of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Neda Buckalew; brother, Clayton Buckalew; and sister-in-law, Shirley Buckalew.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis Buckalew, Highland, IL; children, Scott (Karen) Buckalew, Frisco, TX, and Stacey (Bryan) Micklevitz, Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Samantha Buckalew, Ryan Buckalew, Ethan Micklevitz, and Elijah Micklevitz; and a niece and several nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to H.I.S. K.I.D.S., Inc. or to Highland Community Church.
Visitation: Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at Highland Community Church in Highland, IL
Funeral Service: Saturday, September 20, 2025, 11:00 am, at Highland Community Church in Highland, IL
