Hattie Taylor Obituary

Hattie Jean Calihan Taylor
March 28, 1924 - July 10, 2016
Warner Robins, GA- Hattie Taylor entered into eternal rest on the morning of Sunday, July 10, 2016.
Hattie was born on March 28, 1924 in Roxana, Kentucky to the late Lloyd and Nora Calihan. Shortly after graduating from Whitesburg High School in Kentucky, she married the late Robert B. Taylor, and later dedicated her life to a career in raising her children and keeping their home.
An accomplished poet, Mrs. Taylor had a deep passion for writing poetry and won many awards, and even published a book. She was also a member of the Society of American Poets. Hattie was a devoted member of the International City Church of God, as well, where she taught Sunday School and was a charter member of the Ladies Ministries of ICCOG.
Hattie loved to stay busy. When she wasn't reading or writing poetry, she enjoyed volunteering at a nursing home where she called Bingo games and for many, many years, she was a bell ringer with the Salvation Army. Mrs. Taylor volunteered as a tax preparer for AARP and was a chaplain there, as well. She had a special place in her heart for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends, and will be deeply missed by them all.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her beloved son, Roy D. Taylor.
Hattie leaves her memory behind with her loving children, Robert S. Taylor of Warner Robins, Sharron Kammerlohr of Warrensburg, Missouri, Ronnie Taylor of Santiago de Veraguas, Panama, and Donna Uitto of Warner Robins; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th at Magnolia Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mrs. Taylor to Gentiva Hospice, 319 Margie Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.

To the most wonderful mother-in-love that any woman could have had for 30 years. I was married to her youngest son before he passed away and I was blessed to have such a loving woman in my life for so long. She will be missed and some day I hope to see her in Heaven. Love,Sheila

She was always a special aunt to me. She was a wonderful person! I loved her poems. She was always willing to talk about growing up in Kentucky and sharing memories with us. I am sending love and prayers to the entire family. Wish I could be there with all of you.

Love, Carolene

In loving memory of my beloved sister, Hattie. We had a special bond that only a brother and sister could have. One that included supporting each other in school and all of life's endeavors and knowing that she loved me as I loved her. We have always kept in touch through the years by mail and phone and planned family reunions together. I will miss those letters, birthday cards and phone conversations. I would like to thank the family for the wonderful care you have provided Hattie over the years. I greatly appreciate everything you have done. I will miss her but I know that I will see her again.
