December 2, 1935 - March 13, 2022
Warner Robins, Georgia - On the afternoon of Sunday, March 13, 2022, Herbert Lee Haugabrook, held hands again, with his beloved wife, Jennie Rose Haugabrook, in Heaven. He was 86 years old.
Born in Cordele, GA on December 2, 1935, Herbert was the son of the late Claude Patrick and Lessie Haugabrook. He was a proud, 23-year veteran of the United States Air Force where he served his country in Communications; he retired having attained the rank of TSgt. Subsequent to his military career, Herbert continued serving for another 10 years in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base.
Herbert was an excellent athlete, especially in football, where he made the "All Air Force" team and basketball, as well as a championship winning coach. Moreover, he was a talented vocalist, receiving a scholarship to Fort Valley State College. In addition to managing and singing in his own band. Herbert also enjoyed serving as a Mason in the O'Misawa Lodge #54, in Misawa Japan. Herbert was honored to have held several positions with the American Legion including Past Commander and District Treasurer.
In addition to his wife and parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Haugabrook; sister, Dorothy Colson; brother, Eugene Leverson, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Cleveland Dollison, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Crystal Witherspoon (James) of Sumter, SC, Gregory Haugabrook of Covington, GA, Lucretia Hill (Michael) of Centerville, GA, Eric Haugabrook of Warner Robins, GA and Stacy Clark (Lloyd) of Lexington, SC; siblings, Bobbie Haugabrook (Lettie) and Georgie Mae Dollison; brother-in law, Willie Lee Colson; sister-in-law, Betty Leverson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other extended family.
Herbert's family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. After the service, Herbert will be laid to rest next to Jennie in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
