James Kent Obituary
March 5, 1927 - February 12, 2016
Hawkinsville, GA- James Edward "Jimmy" Kent, age 88, joined his loving wife in heaven on February 12, 2016. Mr. Kent was born in Bibb County to the late Mr. Eric Augustus Kent and the late Crystal Wainwright Kent. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Murieline, who was often heard referring to him as the love of her life. Jimmy was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having served our country during World War II. He then began working for the U.S. Postal Service working his way up to window service superintendent before retiring after 41 years. He was a member and deacon of Tattnall Square Baptist Church as well as The Macon Exchange Club where he served as treasurer for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard at home and was proud to be recognized for having the most beautiful flowers. He also enjoyed playing chess and scrabble with whomever he could talk into playing him.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Nancy Young (Tim) of Hawkinsville, three grandchildren; Kent Young (Allison) of Bonaire, Angela Thornton (Michael) of Athens and Christina Young of Hawkinsville as well as five great grandchildren; Nora, Liam, James, Ellie and Adam and a brother, Bill Kent of Macon.
A graveside service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Blake Westbrook officiating.
The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at Pinewood Villas in Hawkinsville for their compassionate care of Jimmy and specifically to his personal caregivers, Franquan, Janet and Jessica.
While flowers are appreciated, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Ave., Richmond, VA 23230.

I had the pleasure of working with Jimmy at the main Post Office on College St. for many years. I probably put a few gray hairs in his head for all the pranks I pulled on him and other supervisors.He was a very good man and well respected. Sorry to hear about his passing
