Joe Ezell Obituary

Joe Riley Ezell, III
Macon, GA- Joe Riley Ezell, III entered the gates of Heaven and into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 following thirty-seven months of suffering with a rare, untreatable neurological disorder. He was in the arms of his wife Deb (as he liked to call her) listening to music they shared together as he completed his battle and lived his faith to the very end of this life.
A tribute and a service to honor Joe will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, 3077 Pio Nono Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31206 (Phone 478-788-3778) with Pastor Paul Dziadul officiating. Joe would want everyone to come dressed as they feel most comfortable. The family will meet friends following this tribute service. Burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens will be private. As was Joe's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, c/o Bill O'Reilly, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 in honor of their service to our country or to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Joe was born on November 15, 1951 at Macon Hospital and lived in the Middle Georgia area his entire life. He was preceded in death by his dad and his Hero, Joe R. Ezell, Jr. Joe's grandfather, Joe R. Ezell, Sr. was one of the first pharmacists in Macon in the early 1900s. Joe was a 1969 graduate of Willingham High School, attended Middle Georgia College for two years and attended the University of Georgia pursuing a Pharmacy degree graduating in 1974. He then completed a Clinical Pharmacist residency at the Medical College in Augusta in 1975. He retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia on December 12, 2012 after thirty years of service as Clinical Pharmacist. He was also Data Systems Manager of the Pharmacy Department of the Medical Center.
Joe loved music from a very early age and was involved in several bands as a vocalist and guitarist in his high school and college years. He was a kind, gentle soul who loved and helped his fellow man. Joe was a godly, spiritual man and shared that with everyone he encountered. He made an impact on countless lives. Though Joe experienced many trials and tribulations during his life time, he kept the faith that God would direct him in the journey he was called to travel…..And sure enough, the best was saved for last. He told anybody who would listen how happy his Deb had made him and that he had never been as happy in his entire life, and you could tell how true this was as they both glowed with happiness. Joe dearly loved his daughter, Amy and would often comment that she was the best treasure God had blessed him with. Joe adored his granddaughters, Genevieve and Adeline and loved showering them with his love, and of course, presents.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Deborah Waters Ezell, Macon, Georgia; his daughter, Amy Ezell Moore, Jacksonville, Florida; his mother, Vernice Tucker Ezell, Macon, Georgia; his sister, Wanda (Quentin) Grubbs of Macon, Georgia; his grandson, John-William (Marlene) Richter and Joe's great granddaughter, Amelia Richter, all of Macon; Joe's great grandson, Matthew Richter of Macon; Kevin Moore, the father of Joe's granddaughters Genevieve and Adeline Moore all of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Joe dearly loved his family and looked forward each year to the reunions that were held.
Joe's family invites you to visit www.ezellnet.com to learn more about Joe, especially his personal testimony that he loved to share.
May we express our deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Pine Pointe Hospice for their gentle and compassionate care during these last few months.

Joe and I went to elementary school together at Weir and graduated Class of 1969. The last time I saw Joe was at a class reunion around five years ago. He was so happy to see all his fellow classmates. We all had a wonderful time and our class picture made together that evening. You will be missed my friend. Bless you Deborah.

Deb, my heart goes out to you, as I too know the loss of a precious husband. Joe was a wonderful man and one of the kindest that I have known. Your time with Joe was short, but I know that it was a happy time. Joe was a good friend and customer of ours (Pro Car Clinic) and so kind when my sweet husband passed away. He will be missed by all who knew him. Although it is hard, I know that you are thankful that he is no longer suffering. Take care of yourself friend. If I can help you with anything or if you just need an ear, I'm just a call away. May the Lord comfort you.

Joe and I were neighbors and played together while in grammar school; he was always a really good guy. Only saw him once in awhile at the Medical Center in later years, but he was always the same ole Joey; will miss him.

March 26, 2016

I went to high school with Joe, and remember him as a kind and gentle person, a very talented guitarist, and singer as well. When he became ill, and I thought I might visit and encourage him, I was always the one most encouraged by his words and prayers for me and my loved ones. He and Deb showed us how to live through serious illness with love, grace, and dignity, and how to receive strength through our faith in God. Joe is in that better place we all aspire to be someday. RIP my brother.

Dear Family,
Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our friend Joe. We have such fond memories of times shared during the Willingham/McEvoy days. We were so happy to see him last Aug. at the class reunion. He was an inspiration for all of us during his illness. I had the joy of working with Joe at MCCG. He always had a smile and loved to talk about his family. His sweet spirit made him a special man. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Heaven is a "Sweeter" place with his presence. His suffering is over and he is now receiving his rewards in his heavenly home.
Love in Christ,
Ronnie and Karis Dykes

My sweet Joe....I will forever miss you and love you. It was an honor for me to care for you these past 37 months, though at times,it was indeed hard as I watched you suffer so terribly. I am grateful God answered my prayer and let you lay in my arms for 48 minutes and then ever so gently led you into his Kingdom. I know you are no longer suffering and in pain and that comforts me greatly. And, finally you are reunited with your Hero--your Dad. I am grateful for the time we had together....yes, I will shed lots of tears, but our memories we shared will help hold me together. I love you my sweet husband....RIP as soon I will be with you again....Your Deb
