Hillsboro, Georgia- John Edmund Dumas, Sr., age 87, of Hillsboro, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018.
John Dumas lived in Jonesboro, Georgia for over forty years; and owned and operated Southeastern Roof Decks, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Edmund Dumas, Jr.; parents, Frank Coleman Dumas, Mary Levi Goolsby Dumas; and brothers, Coleman Dumas, Bill Dumas, and Frank Dumas.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Day Dumas of Hillsboro; daughters, Jamice (Paul) Meschke of St. Simons, and Elaine "Laney" Wood (Kenneth "Kip" Adkins) of McDonough; grandchildren, Paul (Autumn) Meschke, Jr., Ben (Jessica) Wood, and Lacey (Nathan) McLendon; and great grandchildren, Adelyn Meschke, and Mikalyn Meschke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Hillsboro Baptist Church, 2326 Hwy 11 South, Hillsboro, Georgia 31038. Interment will be held in the Dumas family cemetery. Rev. Phillip Gilbert and Rev. Len Woodard will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 23, 2018, at Jordan Funeral Home, 264 Hillsboro Street, Monticello, Georgia 31064.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Loraine Dumas Outreach Ministry, 150 Sugar Hill Road, Hillsboro, Georgia 31064; Hillsboro Community Center, c/o Sudy Stuckey, 220 Fullerton-Phillips Road, Monticello, Georgia 31064; or Hillsboro Baptist Church, P. O. Box 86, Hillsboro, Georgia 31038.
