Macon, Georgia - Margie McKinley Jones of Macon died peacefully after a brief illness on September 28, 2023, at the age of 90. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward S. Jones, her four children, Patricia Grimes Collier (Joe) of Greensboro, GA; Sherry Sawyer (Dan) of Bishop, Georgia; Mack Jones (Anna) and Frank Jones (Jane) of Macon, GA; a sister, Alice Ann Mullins of Macon and her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Aileen McKinley of Harlem, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth T. Jones of Macon, Georgia; her brother- in- law, Frank Jones of Macon, and her son-in-law, Charles Grimes of Watkinsville.

Margie was an entrepreneur and owner of a preschool business known as The Gingerbread House. Following the sale of her business, Margie was employed by the Bibb County Board of Education for 18 years. She was an active member of Ingleside Methodist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Board, the Pastor/Parrish Committee and the Parsonage Committee. Margie was instrumental in establishing a successful preschool at the church and served as its director during its formative years. After the closing of Ingleside Methodist, Margie and Ed attended Forest Hill Methodist Church.

Margie was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed years of participation in numerous Bridge clubs. She was previously active in the Service League of Macon, the Macon Women's Club and the Pacesetters. Of the many friends she made, Margie often said, "They have been so wonderful, I want them to remember the laughter, the smiles and the joy we had."

Margie loved her four children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was proud of all their accomplishments. About her life with her husband, Ed, Margie Said, "My husband has been wonderful to me and as long as I have the love of my family, what more could I ask?"

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola. The family will greet friends following the service.
