Mary McAfee Obituary
July 24, 1925 - March 10, 2015
Macon, GA- Mary Stringer McAfee, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, March13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lance Merritt officiating. The family will greet friends from Noon until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside Christian Church, 5024 Northside Drive, Macon GA 31210, Masonic Children's Home, 1419 Nottingham Drive, Macon GA 31211, or Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon GA 31201.
Mrs. McAfee was born in Macon, GA to the late Thomas Alva and Marjorie Cooley Stringer. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty five years, Earl Hodges McAfee. Mrs. McAfee was a charter member of Northside Christian Church, taught Sunday School and was instrumental in starting the nursery and worked there for many years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting and was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Bubber) Adams, Angela McAfee, and Samuel Thomas McAfee IV all of Macon, grandchildren; Clay (Carol) Gledhill, Clint (Stephanie) Gledhill and great grandchild; Thomas McAfee Gledhill all of Macon.

Cheryl, Angela, and Sammy; Melanie and I are so sorry for the loss of your sweet mother. Melanie had knee replacement surgery and I have been sick so we were unable to attend the funeral. Little Mary (as we called her) was always so kind and good to Melanie and me as we were growing up. She will be missed. Love to you all.

Cheryl, Angela and Sammy
Your mom was a wonderful person and like another mom to me as we grew up. She was also my moms best friend for most of their life. We were so blessed to have so many wonderful memories of them. As you know my mama passed away two weeks ago, so we know they are happy and not hurting. I can hear your dad singing to them. You are in my prayers. Love you

her through her sister, Margie Bryan.....we had many lovely talks thru

My heartfelt sympathies go to Cheryl and her family at this sad time. I have so many fond memories of hanging out at Cheryl's house during my high school years. Her mom was always around and always lots of fun to be with. And this is how I will remember Mary McAfee... a warm gentle person, smiling and joking with the teenagers that seemed to be constantly passing through her house. She lived a long good life. God Bless her dear family.

Beautiful Christian woman. She was such a inspiration to me while we lived in Macon and and attended Northside. Our prayers are with all of the family.
