Mildred Griner Obituary

Mildred Amelia Schloss Griner -OCILLA - Mrs. Otto Griner, of Ocilla, GA, died at the Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia on July 25, 2002. She was 99 years old. -Mildred Amelia Schloss Griner was born on July 5, 1903 in Portsmouth, OH to Louis Charles and Emma Bertha Schloss. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Ocilla. -She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Otto Griner, an Ocilla Banker, Legislator and Manufacturer. Mrs. Griner had met her husband-to-be in 1926 while attending a college classmate's wedding in Fitzgerald. -Mrs. Griner was educated at Sullins College in Bristol, VA and the Louisville Conservatory of Music. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She had a lifelong interest in travel and had visited virtually all the nations of the world on over twenty extended trips abroad. -Mrs. Griner is survived by her daughter: Amelia Griner Williams; two granddaughters: Amelia Williams Koch and Caroline Williams Burns; and two great-grandchildren: Amelia Challis Koch and John Albin Koch. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews in Ohio and in Georgia. -She has been a resident of the Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home for the past three years. -Funeral services will be 11A.M. Monday at the Ocilla United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow at the Griner Family Plot in Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, GA. -The family will receive friends at the Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla from 7:00 until 9:00P.M., Saturday and Sunday evenings. -Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, will be in charge of arrangements.
