Robert Sheldon Paschal, Jr. -COLUMBIA, SC - Robert Sheldon Paschal, Jr., died at home on January 16, 2006. Memorial services will be held at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 19, at 2:30P.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, in assisting the family. The family will be receiving at home. -Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on April 6, 1928, Mr. Paschal was the son of the late Robert Sheldon Paschal and Clara Leck DeLoach Paschal. He attended public schools, graduating from Columbia High School in 1944. He then enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 1947. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. -After graduation from college, he accepted a position with General Electric in Schenectady, New York, returning to Columbia in 1949. In 1950 he married Margaret Ann Weaver of Macon, Georgia. Soon thereafter, as a member of the South Carolina Air National Guard, he was called to active duty for two years, eventually being sent to Germany. Returning to Columbia, he went to work for Tidewater Supply Company for twenty-five years. He and others then formed a company, Tencarva Machinery Company, in 1978. He was a senior vice president and served on the Executive Board until his death. Mr. Paschal was an active member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, where he held numerous positions and served as a member of the Board of Trustees until shortly before his death. He was also a member of Forest Lake Club and The Quadrille. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting. -He is survived by his wife, Ann; two sons, Robert Sheldon Paschal, III and his wife, Rhoda of Columbia, and Dr. Hudnall Weaver Paschal and his wife, Tracie of Florence, S.C.; three grandchildren, Rhoda Jane Paschal, Ann Sheldon Paschal, and Emily Lauren Paschal; his sister, Leck Paschal Mason of Columbia; sister-in-law, Mary Weaver of Macon, Georgia; and in addition, several nieces and a nephew. -Memorials may be made to Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, 3401 Trenholm Road, Columbia, S.C. 29204, or to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 2121 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, Florida 32608. www.dunbarfuneralsandcreamtions.com
