Robert Franklin Wilson -BUTLER - Robert Franklin Wilson, age 90, passed peacefully at home July 13, 2010. Except while proudly and honorably serving his country in Italy during World War II with the U.S. Army Infantry "Custer" Division, and a brief period thereafter in Thomaston, GA, Mr. Wilson toiled as a farmer of the land on which he lived and raised his children with his devoted and loving wife of some sixty-nine years, Ruby Morris Wilson. -Survivors include Mrs. Wilson; son and daughter-in law, Jerry and Cheryl Wilson of Taylor County; son and daughter-in law, Larry and Marie Wilson of Taylor County; daughter and son-in law, Linda and Mark Kight of Gainesville, GA; and grandchildren, Tara Wilson, Tory and wife, Alisha Wilson, Dana Wilson, and Luke Wilson. -Born January 6, 1920 to Clyde and Grace Wilson (both deceased), and the eldest brother to seven brothers and sisters, Mr. Wilson was a lifelong resident of Taylor County and Deacon of Horeb Baptist Church. -Having finally slipped the bonds and suffering of this realm, Robert Wilson has gone on to prepare us all a place in the company of his Lord, God and his savior, Jesus Christ. His devotion to family, his stewardship of the land, his generosity in the community, and the dignity and respectfulness with which he carried himself will be missed. -Reverend Wallace Couty will officiate services at Horeb Baptist Church, Junction City, GA, on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11A.M., prior to Mr. Wilson's interment at Wesley Community Cemetery. -Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. -Friends and family may sign the online guest registry at www.edwardsmcleighton.com. -Edwards-McLeighton Funeral Home of Butler, GA is in charge of arrangements.
