Carl Edward "Sonny" Peterman

Carl Edward "Sonny" Peterman, of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 19, 1945, in Butler, Georgia, to the late Carl "Pete" Peterman and Wynelle Vann Peterman.

Sonny proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. A true patriot, he deeply loved his country and carried great pride in his military service.

In 1989, Sonny opened Circle Ace Hardware, where he was owner and operator until 2010. Known as a man who could fix anything, Sonny was a hardworking, hands-on problem solver, always busy working around his own home or lending a helping hand to others. Through it all, his compassion, patience, and love touched countless lives during his more than ten years of service with the Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel family. Sonny was a man with a kind and servant's heart. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, never hesitating to help others and always putting people before himself.

In his spare time, He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was rarely seen without a cup of his beloved sweet tea close by.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Jayne (Nelson) Peterman; his son, Scott Peterman (Stacy) of Perry, Georgia; his daughter, Nicole Griffin (Lee) of Macon, Georgia; stepdaughters Gena DeBoe (Chuck) of Centerville, Georgia, and Kristi Peterson of Perry, Georgia; grandchildren Kadie, Tiffanie, Colby, Cason, Brandon, Chase, Scarlett, Stella, and Emma; his sister, Judy Miles (Buddy) of Warner Robins, Georgia; and his brother, Kemp Peterman (Lisa) of Warner Robins, Georgia.

A service honoring the life of Sonny will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory, with visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service. Sonny will be laid to rest following the service at Magnolia Park Cemetery. Pastor Lee Griffin and Reverend Rick Odum will officiate. Per Sonny's request, please dress casually.
