Charles Peterman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, LLC - Pottstown on Feb. 16, 2026.
Like the comforting warmth of a Friday in July on which he was born, he approached life with the same relaxed feeling. CHARLES ALLISON PETERMAN III, 84, passed away in the morning of Saturday February 7, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. He was the son of the late Sylvia Joyce (nee Bechtel) and Charles Allison Peterman Jr.

His passions evolved as did his life. As a young boy, he enjoyed baseball and basketball, while also collecting stamps and coins. He shared stories of how he and a young friend would walk from local bank to bank exchanging a dollar bill for ten dimes in hopes of finding a special Mercury dime. They would then convert the coins back into a bill and walk to the next bank; a successful day being where both went home with at least one coin. As a teen, he was an avid fisherman and hunter like his father and brother. While out for pheasant, Charles Jr. would have his two sons walking on either side to zig-and-zag through the field but, smiling as he recalled his memory, explained how his own dad voiced displeasure in how the two could never quite get in sync and often "zigged when they should have been zagging." As a father himself, and later a grandfather, he devoted much of his time attending and supporting academic, sporting, and extracurricular events. But it was in the quiet, ordinary moments of life that his passion for his family was most evident. Whenever he had an errand to run, he would circle the house looking for company, eagerly asking, "do you want to come along, do you want to take a ride?" Those rides, like him, were easy and comfortable. He simply enjoyed being around his family. Perhaps it was in these moments when we learned the most about him. In his 50's, he found golf and it remained a great passion for the rest of his life. He travelled locally, nationally, and internationally with friends and family to enjoy the game and create memories. He had an uncanny ability to remember every hole on every course he played. His last round was at a scramble tournament played with family this past October where, as anyone who had ever played with him will already know, he contributed many good shots and holed several putts.

Thanks for the ride dad, we loved every minute.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores Elizabeth (nee Pereni) Peterman; their four children, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one brother, one sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday February 21 at Catagnus Funeral Home at 711 North Franklin Street, Pottstown from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
