Always was and always will be my childhood hero... his "lead" character was used in the book The Days of Clover, much true... you will recognize him, changed names... Rod will live and be loved in our hearts forever- this is not meant as advertising- it is the fond memories of the heart of Rod and his family-Rod called me and knew it was him with me and a few special friends in the 5th grade! He touched so many from the earliest years! Cover photo was sketched from his pictures... May God get the Glory!

I've known Rod over 40 years and enjoyed his special wit and his sense of style. Rod was always friendly and had a knack for recognizing opportunity.
Every meeting was laced with side discussions of the Alabama Crimson Tide…..his greatest love….. other than Jackie. Every departure was with a handshake and a “ROLL TIDE” chant.
I haven't seen Rod in quite a while, however; I thought of him often….each time Alabama played on TV. I will miss him and his straight-forward confidence and his friendly nature. He was a good man and a good friend to have.
My heartfelt condolences to Rod's family.
