Rochelle, Georgia - Ruby Smith McDuffie, age 89, of Rochelle, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Northside Villa Health Center, Rochelle, Georgia. She was a homemaker, a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and loved to work in her garden and grow tomatoes. She and her husband, Preston, resided in Jesup, Georgia for many years before moving to Rcchelle.
Ruby was born November 12, 1931 in Pineview, Georgia to the late Macy Smith and Willie Mae Marchman Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Preston McDuffie; her sister, Lorene Mashburn; her brother, Franklin Smith; and her grandson, Chris McDuffie. Survivors include her son, J. P. McDuffie of Jesup; her daughter, Joyce Sharpe (Terry) of Rochelle; her brother, James Marcus Smith of Augusta; her sisters, Louise Ball of Pineview, and Marie Bernard of Hawkinsville; two grandchildren, Dawn Sharpe of Warner Robins and Leslie McDonald of Ocilla; and 7 great-grandchildren; Michael and Brendan Hall, Chandler, Audrey, and Katelyn McDuffie, and Mason and Meadow McDonald.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 at 11:00AM in the M. G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Allen officiating. Interment will be in the Christian Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
